Twitter for Bloggers

All people used to say that twitter is very important for bringing huge amount of traffic but no one tells how to use twitter. I was among those people who didn’t understand how to use twitter to bring huge traffic. So I decided to research on twitter and decided to share my experience with other newbie bloggers.

Twitter is a free service that allows anyone to say almost anything to anyone in 140 characters or less.

Some basic concepts of Twitter

Tweets: When we post or write 140 characters on twitter and hit send button then it is called a tweet or tweeting.

Handle: This is your twitter name for example @mazakaro for http://twitter.com/mazakaro

Follow: This is simply the act of adding someone to your list of people you are following. By doing this their tweets will be visible on your home page.

Replies: When someone writes a tweet directly at your handle is called a reply. For example “@mazakaro how are you doing”  - this is a reply to @mazakaro.

Retweet (RT): This is republishing someone else’s tweet on your twitter. This will show republished tweet to all your followers.

DM: This is a message that is sent directly to another user. You can send DM to someone if he is following you. DM will not be visible to your entire followers.

Hashtag: This is a way of categorizing tweets so that others might use the same tag and so create a way for people to view related tweets. For example #tech, #fun, #marketing, #seo, etc.

Twitter Lists

Twitter added a feature os lists. You may put any user to any lists and these lists can be publicly available for others to view. You can search lists of other users and others can search your’s.
